Public Contest Rules, Entry, Judging Criteria,
Forms and Procedures

The purpose of the competition is to recognize, promote and support nature photography and Sedona as a photography destination.¬Ý All photographs entered must have been taken after January 1, 2011. Submissions will be accepted between January 1, 2012 and April 13, 2012 for jurying. If accepted by the jurors, contestants will be asked to submit a print for the Sedona PhotoFest Exhibition in the Sedona Arts Center’Äôs Special Exhibition Gallery. The exhibition will be on display May 29 ’Äì June 10, 2012.

WHO MAY ENTER
This competition is open to any student or photography enthusiast (not professional) of any age.

WHAT MAY BE ENTERED | COMPETITION PERIOD
Photographs submitted may be taken worldwide. Entries must be nature photographs taken between January 1, 2011 and April 13, 2012. Photographers must submit one Entry Form, which may include up to three (3) images per photographer. Submitted pictures must be submitted on a CD or DVD and should be 72 dpi jpg files, sized approximately 1000 pixels long side, high quality. Photographs submitted can have minor corrections, but must not contain elements derived from other images creating false subject renditions. Entries selected by the jurors for the exhibition must be able to provide a 300 dpi, high-resolution photo paper print. Outside dimensions must be 16’Äù x 20’Äù with or without a mat. Prints must be mounted on an appropriate light weight material suitable for mounting with Velcro on carpeted walls.

DEADLINE
All entries must be postmarked or delivered by 5:00 PM MST on April 13, 2012.

HOW TO ENTER | WHERE TO SEND ENTRIES
Submit a completed Entry Form and CD or DVD with up to three photos to the Sedona Arts Center via mail or in person. The Entry Form is available on our website www.SedonaPhotoFest.com. Send or deliver Entry Form to Sedona PhotoFest Open Competition, Sedona Arts Center, 15 Art Barn Road, Sedona, AZ¬Ý 86336. Please make sure to include all required information on your Entry Form. The CD/DVD must be labeled with your name, photo title(s) and the location(s) where shots were taken.

PROCESSING FEE
There is a $10 US processing fee, which may be paid by check, cash or money order included at the time of submission.

JUDGING
Sedona Photofest Competition entries will be juried based on technical merit, composition, use of light and the feeling the photo(s) evoke. The jurors for the exhibition are accomplished Sedona professional photographers. Entries in the exhibition will be eligible to win sponsor prizes if selected by our esteemed 2012 PhotoFest Judges ’Äì Jack Dykinga, Bobbie Goodrich, Colleen Miniuk-Sperry, Rob Sheppard and Floris van Breugel who, individually, will select their top three photographs.

SALES & RETURNS
If anyone expresses an interest in buying any of the winning photos, Sedona PhotoFest will provide the photographer with contact information. Juried work will not be returned unless SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) is included.

PRIZES | WINNERS ANNOUNCEMENT
Over a $1,000 in prizes will be awarded from Sedona PhotoFest Sponsors including Nikon, ImageMaster, A Day in the West, ¬ÝSedona PhotoExpress and others. Winners will be announced at the Sedona PhotoFest’Äôs Awards Wrap Party on Sunday, June 10, 2012.

Sedona PhotoFest jurors, judges, employees and their families are ineligible to enter.
